A PHAT Sound System Installation
19 reasons to chu the phat
Another restaurant sound system installation has been completed by Twisted Pair in Brisbane’s newest trendy eatery, Chu the Phat.
Twisted has just finished installing an integrated 7 zone audio system and a Serato DJ setup in Chu the Phat – a vibrant new Asian street eatery that stretches over two levels from Fish Lane through to Melbourne Street, South Brisbane.
What did we install and why?
On consultation with rawGROUP and venue owner Adrian Rosato, Twisted’s Installation Manager meticulously considered the design of the venue in deciding what would sound best within the concrete shell of the install site.
Twisted installed an epic 19 of the new Quest MX601 speakers for a few reasons:
- This is an ultra compact loudspeaker that doesn’t compromise on sound quality delivering high SPL output and frequency response.
- The speaker has a very low profile and can blend seamlessly into any venue, meaning it is both elegant and practical.
These speakers have also been complemented with the Quest HPI12S 12” sub.
They’re a little hard to spot, but that’s what’s so great about them.
After installation, Twisted’s head Audio Engineer Alex Leahy tuned and delayed the system with reports coming back that the the sound is warm and clear with a good punch!
Why use a zone system?
The integrated zone system means that there is dynamic volume around the venue. Some spaces can be quiet, whilst louder functions and parties can be happening on the same night! This offers great versatility and control to such a big venue as Chu the Fat, which has been set up with 7 different zones! The zone control interface has been installed on the Point Of Sale computers of the venue. This gives staff control over the 7 zones and inputs from the til, making for quick and easy operation.
The DJ system consists of a RANE 57MK2 mixer running Serato DJ and 2 x Pioneer PLX1000 Professional Turntables with Serato vinyl spinning the endless playlist of funky tunes. The DJ set up, along with Shure SLX Beta58 wireless microphones can all be controlled through the integrated zone system and routed to any zone in the venue!
The Pioneer PLX1000 is designed to look and feel just like Technics 1200 turntables.
Having all of this high quality gear is nothing without a good system processor and zone controller. Luckily this comes all in one neat package with the Xilica Neutrino AO808-N. The Neutrino has a 40 Bit Floating Point DSP Engine, high performance 24-bit converters, and premium-grade microphone preamps.
And what does a processor and zone controller like this mean for venues?
- It’s easy to use!
- Twisted’s expertise using new software “SolaroConsole” to run the Neutrino A0808-N, allows our technicians to design and build the venue’s own system and zones just the way they want them using open architecture-drag & drop audio processing.
- It’s powerful but small (1 rack unit space)
- It can be run from any Mac or PC-based device
- Each device has a custom panel that can be put together with passwords and different access to all parts of the processing.
The Xilica Neutrino AO808-N takes center stage in the rack.
All in all, the sound system installed by Twisted Pair at Chu The Phat is one of the best systems you will find in a restaurant in Brisbane. Twisted Pair can provide this level of audio experience in any space, big or small. We can also provide video connectivity, projectors, TVs and lighting along with it!
